What is the Safe Area?

Safe area

The safe area is essential for making sure your print looks perfect once it rolls off the presses. It's the area close to the trim marks, so your text or important design features need to stay clear! There's always a small amount of natural movement while your print gets finished, so keeping designs away from this safe area ensures they don't accidentally get trimmed off! When you're on each product page, scroll down to 'guide to perfect print' where you'll find downloadable templates, along with the safe area and bleed listed (which is usually 3mm).

Bleed and border requirements for print designs

Bleed is the extra area around artwork that ensures no unwanted white edges when the design is trimmed. It is typically 3mm.Borders refer to lines or margins close to the edge of the design. For a professional finish, borders should be at least 6mm thick and set far enough from the edge.Bleed and border requirements are separate: bleed is for trimming, while borders need to be thick enough to avoid issues during production.

Would be useful if you recommended safe area dimensions for your most popular products, or linked to template files.
