Introduction
If your roller banner material has come away at the top, you can usually re-align it yourself without moving the main canister. Follow the steps below to safely release the top bar, adjust the material, and roll the banner back in straight.
Before you start
You will need a flat floor or large work surface and, ideally, a second person to help hold the base steady. If you are working alone, you can use a soft weight to keep the base in place while you make the adjustment.
Step-by-step instructions
Roll out around one metre of the banner onto the floor or work surface. Keep the banner flat and avoid pulling it too far out at once.
Have someone hold the base, or place a soft weight on it, so the banner does not move while you adjust the top bar.
At each end of the top bar, carefully remove the black or dark grey caps. This allows the bar to open.
The clamp on the bar is quite tight, so prise or snap it open carefully to release the banner material.
Gently slide the top bar off the upper edge of the banner material. This lets you start again without needing to move the main canister.
Slide the bar back over the material, check that the banner is straight, then clamp the bar down firmly to close it.
Repeat the opening and closing process until you are happy with the placement.
Once the banner is aligned correctly, replace the black caps on both ends of the bar.
Gently roll the banner back into the main canister.
Helpful Tip
If the banner has moved during adjustment, fully roll it out slowly before rolling it back in. This helps prevent it from winding back into the canister at an angle.
