It’s out with the old and in with the new! Clear away those old mood boards, colour palettes and samples and get ready to embrace the new wedding trends for 2014. With a focus on back to basics and staying unique and quirky, we think we’ve nailed what your brides and grooms will be asking you for this year.
Also known as the ‘Great Gatsby’ trend, this is one of the themes which emerged in 2013 and is so good that we can’t quite let go of it yet. The art deco theme loves feminine colours like creams, whites, and romantic pastels. Small embellishments like crystals, lace and feathers help to bring this all together, but keep it retro simple — over doing it might leave you with wedding stationery that’s more grandma than glam.
If art deco is a roll-over trend then romance is our long-time favourite. This wedding trend is all about classical romance and intimate touches. Floral themes (especially roses), cursive script and a colour palette of creams, soft pinks or reds will help you keep this trend on track. Bring it up to date by adding quirky or retro touches to steer clear of that undesirable, super-girly ‘Barbie’ look.
This is our hot new trend for 2014; a back to basics approach to weddings that is both affordable and quirky. Colour palettes for the organic trend are all au naturel — nudes, browns, greens and light floral shades. The dresses are nymph-like, the style is homemade and the venues are botanical gardens and barns. Organic-fanatic brides and grooms love their wood and hessian fabric textures and a good old bicycle or two. If you’ve strayed into ‘farmer’ territory, you’ve taken the trend too far.
