Autumn has arrived, and what better way to stay on top of the latest colour trends than to look to the catwalks? With London Fashion Week gone, we give you some of our favourites from Pantone’s hottest colour trends for autumn 2014, so you can enliven your designs with up to the minute palettes.
Dark berry tones
The colour palette of the season looks to be dominated by berry tones like purples, indigos, mauves and royal blues. These moody colours come as nod to Pantone’s colour of the year (Radiant Orchid), which is going to be bigger than ever as the days darken and the leaves start to fall. This colour trend can be offset with cobalt blue and steel silver tones for a brighter, fresher look.
More berry shades make it into the top autumnal shades for the year, but this time, in the form of reds and scarlets. Popular Pantone favourites include Sangria and Aurora Red, for sophisticated warmth and festive feels. Here are some great ideas for reds in design.
Browns and yellows
Unusual choices, but gorgeous when you get them into designs, browns and yellows are making their autumnal appearance on palettes in 2014. Pantone loves Cognac and Misted Yellow in prints to give a touch of class and—especially with the yellow— a hint of brightness.
Here are some great ways to use yellows in designs this season.
