Today marks the start of Social Media Week (SMW) – a worldwide event exploring the social, cultural and economic impact of social media. Did you know that over the next 10 years, it is estimated that three billion new people will connect to each other through the Internet and mobile technology – more than three times the number who are currently online? The organizers of SMW believe that a society that is more connected will lead to a more enlightened, prosperous and sustainable world, and we at printed.com are inclined to agree with them!
Social Media Week helps people and organizations connect through collaboration, learning and the sharing of ideas by focusing on three core areas:
1. Collaboration – hosting global and local conferences in which hundreds of thousands of people in more than 180 countries can watch online via livestream and participate in a global conversation.
3. Conversation – Capturing and sharing online conversations, and pulling them all together through the online and mobile app SMW RealTime.
DISCUSSION: What do you think small businesses need to do more of on social platforms? Have your say by leaving your comment below and you'll earn 50 reward points for every approved comment.
