Jay and I met both aged 15, when Jay was playing in a local band in Kent, and we have now been together for 11 years. After Jay truly surprised me by proposing on a romantic spa break for our 10 year anniversary, we started planning the wedding for 18 months ahead.
Jay was keen to have our wedding in a castle and we quickly realised that Leeds Castle, Kent, was perfect for us. It really lived up to being ‘the loveliest castle in the world’. We chose June 21st this year as it was the Summer Solstice and we were lucky enough to have the balmy warm evening of gorgeous sunlight we hoped for.
In such a beautiful and historic venue, we didn’t need to add much decoration, so kept it simple with delicate flowers and tealights arranged by the amazing castle florists.
On the big day, our ceremony was in the dining room, followed by a drinks reception outside the front of the castle and a meal in the impressive Henry VIII banqueting hall. We partied the night away and relaxed at the piano and backgammon table in the formal lounges before retiring to amazing bedrooms in the castle overnight. We had a perfect day celebrating with all of our wonderful friends and family.
We decided to design our own stationery and were really excited when we found that printed.com could offer us the quality of card and printing, along with the price we wanted.
Jay re-created an outline illustration of the Castle, which we continued to use as a logo in our hunter green colour scheme along with 1920s style fonts to reflect the castle interior.
On the wedding day we had personalised place cards and menus on the dining tables, and a mounted poster for our table plan. The Gesso card was the perfect touch of quality we wanted and the table plan was affordable, with speedy delivery so that we could wait for those last minute changes before sending the order in.
We used round stickers to seal invitation envelopes to give that extra special feel for our guests when the post arrived, and the stickers were also the perfect solution to creating our bar token favours, which many guests wanted to keep as a memento.
We were so pleased that we could apply our colour scheme and style throughout the stationery. Everything came out exactly as we imagined and it was a fun to be creative and plan this part of the wedding together.
Heather and Jay were married at Leeds Castle, Kent on 21st June. They are forever grateful to their friends and family for making it so special and Fiona Kelly for her amazing photography.
