#InspirationPrinted- Talking Wedding Stationery design with Lilac & White

While the majority of marriages have been put on hold for now, that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited about what our fabulous Wedding Stationery customers have been up to! We recently had the pleasure of chatting with Paula of Lilac & White Wedding Stationery, who gave us some professional insight on how the past few months have affected the wedding industry and, more importantly, how they’re finding their way through.

Read on to find out all about them!

Hi Paula! Tell us a bit about yourself and your wedding stationery business!

Hello! I founded Lilac & White 5 years ago when I saw a gap in the market for clean and clear wedding stationery design. I am passionate about understated sophistication and subtle detailing to give a beautiful backdrop to the colour and fun of weddings.

As a stationer, how has Covid-19 affected you over the past few months?

We have unfortunately seen a huge drop in numbers. I’m pleased to say there are some sales keeping us ticking over from overseas and lots of Save the Date Cards. I have really felt for all couples making some difficult decisions about their wedding days, but the support in the industry has been phenomenal. I’m very excited about next year being super busy as couples reschedule for 2021 and even 2022.

Has lockdown given you the opportunity to work on any new wedding stationery projects?

Absolutely! It has been so nice to have time for design again. I’m working on a few bits that are keeping in line with our brand but more clean-lined and modern. We also have more invitation accessories such as wax seals and Vellum wraps coming out soon.

How have you helped support your Bride/Groom customer base during this time?

Wedding postponement

We have offered all our couples a free digital PDF with their “change of plans” in the style of their original invitation so that they can send to friends and family notifying them of the postponement details.

Where do you get your design inspiration?

Good question! I love Pinterest and I have so many boards. I love pulling images together on there: things like interior design, nature, textures… even lingerie and papers! I just love paper and card! The feel and touch of it is something really personal and that’s why it’s so pleasurable receiving invitations and cards in the post.

Our new Samantha & Rachel collections have been popular. On-the-day stationery such as Place Cards, Menus, Order of Service Booklets and Table Plans can be bought to match any of our Invitations, so couples can have a cohesive look throughout their wedding experience. I personally am obsessed with White Ink on transparent papers or board.

How did you come across Printed.com?

I was designing my friend’s wedding invitations back in 2014 and she told me she wanted to print her invitations with Printed.com so I said okay. I loved the quality and affordability of the final result and am so happy to bring this to my customers now.

How important is print for you right now to keep your business afloat?

To feel a card in your hards that a loved one has sent you really does not compare to a text or email. Print is important; connection is important.

What tips can you offer to other wedding stationers who are having to adapt this year due to Covid-19?

Wedding Signs

When I joined the wedding industry I was shocked at how nice everyone is. There really is so much support from Facebook groups, to commenting and interacting on Instagram, it’s lovely to see stationers share with each other. I would say think about how you can get your items to sell internationally and also if you can survive financially, enjoy this time for design and get everything in place for next year. Sort out your studio, re-asses your website, do those admin jobs that you never get around to doing.

And finally –  how can people shop from you, or find out more?

Customers can purchase wedding stationery through our website, we then prepare a draft and email customers with a proof before we send to print. You can order directly from our shop here and please have a browse through our Instagram and Pinterest platforms
