Operating a rather strict office policy of no electrical wires on show, no brown boxes and 6 inch high heels to be worn at all times (yes, this does include the boys) his staff live in fear of his quick witted put downs and garish socks. Nick is a man you always want on your team. Get him to really like you and he may even treat you to a Colin the caterpillar cake; but remember, he'll always want something in return. The ambition is very simple: "to build printed.com into the easiest and biggest site on the internet for buying digital print through".
Notching up 13 years to date, Paul is a permanent fixture of the group (we've tried to get rid of him but he just won't budge). A hard grafter ideally suited to product management, Paul has a superior knowledge of all things print. Paul has turned around the way we do things here and has a long list of updates ready at all times to hand to our web developers. Just don't ask him about his kids, his slideshow of family photos will have you asleep before you know it.
The first time Jess walked in to the office we all took an immediate liking to her. Cool, calm, collected and quietly confident we saw her fitting in straight away. And we were right! At the tender age of 22 she certainly makes us all feel very old with her abbrev'd vocab. heavily borrowed from her favourite show TOWIE (that's The Only Way Is Essex to you and I). Hilair, jel, horrend and ridic feature heavily in her daily chat and in a desperate bid to cling on to our youth we're now all at it, totes ridic we know. Jess hails from Watford where she lives with her family. Shopping, socialising and keeping our customers happy are what Jess does best.
Head of Creative
Julie also has an amazing eye for design and has completely transformed how printed.com brands itself. Julie's wealth of print knowledge is a fantastic advantage but her love of Pantone cool grey 10 is a bit strange and we don't really understand it or her accent most of the time. Hailing from a long line of giants, Julie would not be out of place on an NBA court and has more qualifications than middle names. Julie has a great work ethic and if anything stands in her way will almost certainly give you "one of them looks".
Emma is our resident Aussie and lists her loves as vegemite, live music and fairy lights (we're not putting the office Christmas tree next to her then). When Emma grows up she wants to have, wait for it... a wrapping room. When not playing with Flash, Illustrator or Photoshop, Emma is enjoying London, its architecture, pubs, shopping and chocolate. Not only a design genius, Emma also boasts a BSc in Nursing, Midwifery and Indigenous Health and a Bachelors of Applied Multimedia. She also has some awards for e-commerce and online trading but no-one's ever heard of them over here, she could be lying for all we know.
Senior Graphic Designer
Laid-back Irishman Luke is always super-busy, but stays relaxed in the face of piles of work. A true Renaissance man, he has many artistic and musical talents. He paints landscapes, sketches, is a photographer, and used to work as a set designer. Luke was once in a heavy metal band, but got the sack after a few weeks as he was ruining their rock image with his 'boy band look'. Luke plays hurling and his other passion is cars. He used to be a rally driver and drives his classic Audi like he still is. His favourite place in the world is Las Vegas, as you can't beat the craic there. Except in Ireland.
Emma 'Bean' Cownley
Wordsmith Emma has an eye for detail when crafting copy for the printed.com website, but in real life she is a bit of a klutz. She electrocuted herself when working at Starbucks and once set fire to her own hand. A huge sci-fi and horror fan, she was president and founder of the Brunel University Sci-fi Society and has even had a short story published in a sci-fi magazine. Home is the place where she fashions subversive needlework pieces and tends to her surrogate children - two British Shorthair cats. Emma has an MA in Creative and Professional writing, and is always ready with a combined dictionary and thesaurus to tackle any copy job.
Chief Technology Officer
Lee, named for the infamous Bruce Lee, is our technical action man and has been a techoholic since the tender age of eight! It's Lee's job to oversee development and to manage all the projects we throw at the technical team. He pashes on technical strategy and tinkering with the servers, and has an unhealthy relationship with his MacBook Pro. Lee masks his love for womanly Starbucks beverages (skinny vanilla latte, anyone?) by hiking mountains, cycling, playing sports and practicing various martial arts. He uses this training to smash technical tasks into oblivion. He is also obsessed with doors.
Head of Development
Ben is our resident techy. He has been the architect of what printed.com is: a meticulously detailed yet easy to use website. Having built the entire site, Ben continues to come up with new ways to improve it, and always finds a way to make everyone's ideas possible. Ben carefully steers the office music away from what everyone else knows and loves, before throwing in the most outrageous rubbish just to see if anyone's listening. He also has to remind Paul not to get carried away with the praise when writing his bio. If Ben's not coding something, he's probably blogging, tweeting, or watching a movie.
Originally from Pakistan, Bilal gained his Degree in Computer Sciences before coming to the UK to complete his Masters in Advanced Software Engineering. Basically he is like well clever yeah. When Mr Ben Barden doesn't have him chained to his desk Bilal enjoys travelling, Xbox and riding shotgun on road trips. Apparently this one time, he popped out to the shop & ended up in another country with three of his friends. We have a feeling there's more to that story. His friends describe him as laid back, mellow and adamant. We'll add Ninja to that, he really is quite stealth-like and seems to have the ability to enter and leave a room without making a sound.
Richard likes things clean and simple – his aim in life is to get everyone off Internet Explorer and on to a decent browser like Chrome. He has an IE-using twin who is completely different to him in looks, personality and tastes. Richard played basketball to a semi-professional level, and it's the only sport he'll watch on TV. He's a family man who spends his free time with his fiancée and two children, cooking Caribbean stews and baking cakes – or so he says. After the kids are asleep, he cherishes 'me time' with his Xbox. At work, he takes keyboard breaks by bending his little finger abnormally far back.
Not just a first-class developer, Stephen also races remote control cars, arranges British country music showcase events and travels regularly. He was born and raised five minutes from the peak district, and much like a young Heidi, spent his youth frolicking in the mountains. A man of culture and refinement, his favourite places to visit are New York and Rome, but he is a sucker for a good cruise. When he isn't jetting off, racing or being the toast of the country music scene, he puts his Multimedia degree to good use by helping the Development Team build printed.com into the paradise you see before you.
Search and Insight Manager
Marco is our resident South African who loves a good game of paintball. He will not be beaten and in fact almost went pro until his daughter came along. Marco is a dedicated father and loves to bore us, sorry, entertain us with funny videos of his little ray of sunshine. Citing his greatest achievements as having eaten a 2.1kg steak + portion of chips + 1 litre of beer in 1 hour (greedy) and winning a colouring competition when he was 12 (wow, congratulations on that Marco) he is also a dab hand at assisting his wife with her novelty cake baking. In the office Marco manages our SEO and PPC and what an excellent job he does too.
Our Belgian business growth expert is known as 'Pep' as no-one in the office can pronounce his real name. He couldn't wait to get out of his home country and left as soon as he completed a 'pretty useless' Masters degree in Marketing. Thereafter a quest to gain real-world skills led him to successful stints for PayPal in Dublin and Vistaprint in Barcelona. The 2012 Olympics turned him sports-mad and last year he finished his first Ironman competition and a marathon in Sierra Leone for the charity Street Child. In his spare time he likes to try to entertain his Puerto Rican girlfriend by pretending to be a TV chef in the kitchen at home.
Belgium-born Catherine loves to laugh... even if it's at her own jokes. Before moving to London, she lived in Brussels and Barcelona, and still firmly believes that whatever it is, Belgium does it better (but get her in secret and she'll admit London is the bee's knees). Catherine is responsible for all the lovely loyalty programmes and communications our customers get, and being a people person at heart, is dedicated to finding out exactly what our customers need and making sure they get it! Catherine enjoys the simple things in life, with good food, laughing and hanging out with friends coming top of the list. She has degrees in Business and Marketing and speaks Dutch, French, English and Spanish, but has yet to master Klingon.
A Spaniard in London, Cristian brings his own brand of soft-spoken humour to the printed.com office. He gained his MA in Marketing in Barcelona and does a great job at driving traffic to our website. His in-depth SEO analyses are speeding up his mastery of the English language, although he does wonder about some of our turns of phrase ('Shooting from the hip?'). He loves cooking and can rustle up a mean paella. Cristian has made his girlfriend walk miles in his quest to discover the nooks and crannies of London on foot. He's recently discovered kite surfing and can't wait to repeat it.
Junior Online Marketer
Don't be fooled! Although she's a born and bred Essex girl, you won't find Abi caked in fake tan and teetering in white stilettos. She volunteers for the Scouts, helping them out with their social media— a true Scout at heart, camping, hiking and rock climbing give her an adrenaline rush. Risk sports not your forte? Abi makes a cracking champagne cocktail and can talk your ear off when it comes to history and philosophy of art, which she has a degree in. She's a self-confessed chatterbox, which comes in handy when she's running the printed.com social media accounts! She puts her Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification to good use helping our customers find what they need online.
Content Marketing Specialist
When Emma joined the company, there was uproar: she is the fourth 'Emma' to be hired at printed.com and the third 'Carney'. We were running out of nicknames and company email addresses, but there was more than enough room for her in our hearts! Originally from Stoke, Emma has one of those funny accents that make us want to listen to her talking all day. She loves surfing for baby animals on the net, collecting stationery and slathering on a generous helping of red lipstick and eyeliner. Emma has a degree in Film, Radio and Television Studies, and before joining the printed team as Content Marketing Specialist, started her career in a private dental practice— if you have a toothache, you know who to call.
Ian has worked with us since he was 19 years of age! The longest standing member of our business, he has print and operations running through his veins. Today he oversees our team of 150 dedicated production and customer services people and continues to strive for the best result every time. His knowledge, experience and love of the business makes him our leader! Rarely not at work; he can be found swimming hundreds of lengths of Olympic size pools or watching fast cars with his son Ryan.
David joined straight from school, and has now been with the company for 23 years, what he doesn't know about the industry isn't worth knowing. As Production Director David is a key man at printed.com. He is responsible for making sure all work goes out on time, ensuring it is all correct and present and is also charged with looking after all of the production staff. On the odd occasion he is allowed to escape the realm of ink and paper, he enjoys spending time with his family talking about digital print.
He's been with the company for 25 years and currently holds the role of Environmental Specialist. Brainiac Bernard has a diploma in management studies and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply. When he's not knee-deep in ink cartridges and paper, Bernard likes to indulge in sport. He is an avid Tottenham Hotspur fan and is trying to regain his fitness despite apparently having two dodgy knees!
Head of Customer Service
It's all about heels, heels, heels for vertically challenged Head of Customer Service, Nicola. A fanatical foodie, she adores cooking, and claims that it only takes a few glasses of wine to turn her into a three-star Michelin chef. When she isn't organising the office, the Customer Service staff and things which people are still using, she is being dragged over mountain ranges of the UK by her boyfriend. Nicola has been called out by her team as a lip gloss addict, and unwittingly applies at least 100 times a day. Heading up the ever-expanding Customer Service team Nicola thrives on making printed.com a better place to shop, and has her eyes set on a trophy at the Customer Service Awards!

Young Ami is a fun, energetic and helpful person who loves to chat. Ami enjoys a good laugh and is a real addition to our Customer Service team. As well as being outgoing and lively, especially after a few vodka and lemonades, Ami also loves the finer things in life. Walking along the coast on a warm summer's night and dining in expensive restaurants is what really excites Ami but nothing gets her quite as warm and fuzzy as sharing a big bar of chocolate with her 2 boys Smokey and Joey. Ami has spent all her life working in print and is still loving it!
Danielle 'Dolly' Hollyhead
Customer Service Advisor
Danielle has been within the company for the last three years, and recently joined the printed.com team. Filled with piercings and covered in tattoos, she brings hardcore to customer service like you've never seen, tackling customer service problems and busting them like lightning. Danielle actively shuns anything pink, fluffy or girly, favouring an all-black attire for cruising on her motorbike. An animal lover at heart, she owns two ferrets, one cat and a boyfriend, but only one of these is allowed to sleep on the bed. Danielle is desperate to visit Australia and one day hopes to be an astronaut.

Globetrotting Jen used to be an air hostess, and she loves riding the skies and visiting different countries. Being a sun-worshipper, her favourite places are Florida, Egypt and Gran Canaria. Now she brings her sunny disposition to the printed.com Customer Service team, helping you out with your print questions with a smile. That's when she's not attempting to break her own record for the most maltesers she can fit in her mouth (29). She's originally from Scotland and likes to drink wine and laugh a lot; her cheerful disposition goes a long way when helping customers set things right again!
Customer Service Advisor
Fancy a dance-off? Look no further! Olivia is a self-confessed party girl who loves nothing more than throwing a few shapes on the dance floor. Sausage dog owner and serial tanner, she is a firm believer that the only way is orange and that life is "so much better with a tan". Now she has joined the printed.com team, Olivia (or as she's better known, Princess Olive) hopes to spread her infectious YOLO vibe throughout the Customer Service team, armed with a ready smile and a vocabulary filled with annoyingly catchy abbreviations.
Customer Experience Advisor
Laura isn't just our Customer Experience Advisor, she's also a shameless big spender, addicted to buying two of everything and spending top dollar on make-up till the cows come home. She is a first- time house buyer, enthusiastic foodie and can't seem to keep a grin off her face...even when she's angry. Laura takes care of all our first time buyers, bestowing her tender loving care on them and making sure that they had a blast shopping with us. More than just a cat owner, Laura smothers her miniature cat, Tuppence, with the same kind of love any normal person would give a child.

When Peter is not fronting "Coldplay" he works for printed.com on Customer Service and Pre-Press. Peter has great knowledge of the print trade and has worked for the Independent, Sunday Telegraph, Mail on Sunday, The Observer and The Guardian. Peter loves all things outdoors and can regularly be found running, mountain biking, canoeing or camping with his son. Peter started working for us in December 2010 and can regularly be found working well into the night.

Dan is our pre-press guru, with the know-how to help you perfect your files for print. He has a degree in Illustration and Design, and combines his artistic leanings with technical savvy. Before printed.com he worked at BT for seven years in advanced technical support. He's very laid back, but hardworking and reliable. Dan enjoys the odd night out and describes his favourite drinks as 'the wet ones'. Most Sunday mornings, when he can run in a straight line, he likes to play Sunday League football. His sporting prowess showed itself at the age of five, when he came second in the egg and spoon race (he still has the medal).

Rachael loves spending time with her friends and family, shopping, going to the cinema and eating out. When she's not playing the socialite Rachael likes to get out and about on long walks or drives, dependant on the weather. A champion ice-skater, Rachael loves spending time on the ice showcasing her triple axels to her crowds of adoring fans. If you ask nicely she'll send you a video of her in action. Rachael thoroughly enjoys working for printed.com and helping people with their digital print requirements.

Scott is a self-confessed party animal and dub-step lover, and rocks out at every club, festival and house party he possibly can. A true creature of the night, he's also an avid ghost hunter, and has scared up several spooks on late night investigations with a north east ghost hunting team. Scott has a keen eye for detail, and it's him that prepares and checks the artwork all our lovely customers send in before it is printed. Camping is one of Scott's favourite pastimes, and it's his dream to travel across America in a camper van.
Kevin has been part of the printed.com team for many years. Like all accountants he loves numbers and watching printed.com grow. Travelling often between our offices in London and Newcastle he can been seen on trains crunching numbers and working out how we can improve our service and deliver work faster and more efficiently. Almost the only member of our team who wears a suit and tie every day we love him because he loves to watch businesses grow. Just make sure you pay your bills because as a true Newcastle fan he has some scary friends.
Mrs Brough has been with the company for 3 years. An ACA Chartered accountant she knows the movement of every single penny here at printed.com, there's no borrowing from the petty cash when she's around. Paul thinks she's forgotten, but that 46p he borrowed for a KitKat is rapidly accumulating interest for a deposit for her next property. Just because she works in finance don't mistake her for not knowing how to party, we've seen that tattoo on her ankle, something to do with Ibiza, 6 jugs of sangria, 2 dolphins and a police man apparently. Becky loves to travel and has recently returned from honeymooning in Indonesia.
Advisor for Customer Marketing
Marketing and advertising guru Matt advises printed.com on acquisition, media and marketing. Matt is currently Chief Executive and founder of shomei.com and co-founder and Managing Director Europe at Tracking.net. When Matt has some spare time, he enjoys coaching rugby, mountain biking and spending time with his family.
Advisor for Insight and Data
Steve works with printed.com as a strategic data consultant. He is founding partner of Persuasion Engines, which is about to launch Psyche, a new marketing tool, in to the UK. A man after our own heart, Steve's motto is "it's not a crisis if there's strong coffee". When printed.com gives him a moment's peace, Steve likes to do triathlons, drink fine wines and read finer books.
